The Royal Regiment of Wales was formed when the South Wales Borderers (24th Foot) and the Welsh Regiment (a merger of the 41st and 69th Foot) were merged in 1969. This is a 300-year history of all three regiments.

Appendices included.The Royal Regiment of Wales was formed in 1969 by the amalgamation of the South Wales Borderers and the Welch Regiment. Their regimental forefathers fought in Northern Ireland as long ago as 1689, in Marlborough's campaigns, the American Revolutionary War, the Peninsula War, the Waterloo Campaign, the War of 1812, the First Afghan War, the Crimean War, the Zulu War, the Boer War, both World Wars and with the U.N. In Korea and Cyprus.
