An Illustrated Diary Of Australian Internment Camps (1983) By An Australian Officer Of The Guard- Lieut. Edmond Samuels

Many Germans living in Australia during the outbreak of WWI were jailed without trial due to their classification as enemy aliens. Australia interned almost 7,000 people during WWI at Holsworthy, Berrima and Trial Bay (NSW) camps.

When the AIF rejected Samuels he served as a guard and was able 'to depict the existence and conditions under which the people in Australian Concentration Camps lived'
