Biggles in the Jungle by W. E. Johns was first published in 1942 by Oxford University Press. There has been at least 7 subsequent edition in the English language. The events in the book take place during the late 1930s in Central America.
 
In 1965, Studio Vandersteen published a loose comic strip adaptation in the Dutch language where the events are transposed to the Air Police era with a largely new cast of characters.
