ASK anybody who helped defend Hong Kong against the great tidal wave of Japs near the end of December 1941, and they'll tell you all about "Hong Kong Hooky."
A Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander whose ship was sunk by the Japs, Hooky was put in charge of a bunch of military scruff released from prison to help defend Hong Kong.
When he wasn't fighting the Japs, he was drilling his band of deserters and scoundrels into shape with a rock-hard right fist and a gleaming steel hook for a left.
Quite a man was Hooky, quite a man!
