Sydney Appleby was a member of the Boonah Troop (QLD) of the Light Horse. He led reconnaissance to Cape York Peninsula and worked with the Far Eastern Liaison Office, where he participated in the Australian invasion at Labuan. He saw the surrender of the Japanese at Kuching and the liberation of Far East Prisoners of War. He devoted many years to the preservation of the history of the 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry), working to establish a Museum.
This account by his daughter is drawn from his letters, papers, and diaries. Includes many photos.
