Dawn Like Thunder (1944) By Roderick Macdonald
Roderick Kenneth Macdonald was born in 1913. He was educated at Scots College and Sydney University. He joined the 'Sydney Morning Herald' in 1931. During the Second World War, he served as a war correspondent in Chung-king, North Africa, and Italy. In 1944, he published 'Dawn like Thunder which related his experiences as a correspondent. He was killed by a landmine at the bloody Battle of Monte Cassino in May 1944.
