Entangling Alliances: Coalition Warfare In The Twentieth Century (2005) By Peter Dennis and Jeffrey Grey

Alliances are a recurring feature of military history. Wartime coalitions tend to be temporary arrangements, with the dynamics of the relationship between alliance partners changing as the war progresses. Those alliances that survive the strains of war are confronted by very different circumstances that often impose further, and more difficult, pressures on coalitions. Where coalitions involve partners of markedly unequal strength, the difficulties in maintaining a productive relationship are even greater. These essays explore the complexities of alliances and alliance partners in the twentieth century.

The Chief of Army's Military History Conference 2005: Collection of essays, based on conference papers which explore the complexities of alliance and alliance partners in the 20th century.
