The Field Marshal Sir Thomas Albert Blamey (2001) memorial refers to the dedication of Field Marshal Sir Thomas Blamey Square in Canberra, originally named Thomas Blamey Square in 1982, which was renamed and rededicated in May 2001. The event commemorated the 50th anniversary of his death and the plaque was unveiled by the Hon Bruce Scott MP, Minister for Veterans' Affairs. 

 

The renaming of the square and the rededication ceremony took place in May 2001, marking the 50th anniversary of Field Marshal Sir Thomas Blamey's death. The event was overseen by the Hon Bruce Scott MP, Minister for Veterans' Affairs. The square was originally named Thomas Blamey Square and the plaque was unveiled on 18 November 1982, before being renamed and rededicated in May 2001. A large bronze wreath and a commemorative tablet are located at the base of the column, with an inscription honoring the vital help given by the United States of America during the war in the Pacific (1941-1945).
