In the Summer of 1940, the Germans prepared to launch, and the British to repel, an invasion of England. In this book, these preparations are described and placed in relation to each other. An attempt is made to show how the strong, elaborate German expedition would have fared if its orders had not been countermanded at a late hour. The reasons for the abandonment are analysed in some detail. The book contains maps, photographic illustrations, and illustrations in the text.
