Remembrance: Digger Stories (c.WWI) By Herbert Scanlon

In July 1915 Herbert Scanlon lied about his age and name when he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force and arrived in France in 1916. For many young Australians, this was the biggest adventure in their lives to date. He saw great battles, found camaraderie, the inevitable field hospitals, and the reconstruction of French towns while billeting with French families. He returned to Australia in 1917, and began writing these little episodes of the great dramas of War - the battles, the villages, Paris, the Battalion, great loves and precious affections - all the time remembering your own country, while defending another. Here are the lost stories of the old Alliance - France and Australia.

A rare book with a selection of stories from WWI.
