The Air Battle Of Imphal (1985) By Norman Franks

While under siege at Imphal and Kohima in 1944. General Slim's 14th Army held on to its positions, supplied and defended by the airmen and aircraft of the RAF. Without the daily supply missions into Imphal and Kohima, both would have fallen. Without the Spitfires and Hurricanes of 221 Fighter Group, defending the Valley from Japanese aircraft or attacking enemy positions and their lines of supply, the Japanese would not have been stopped.

Military historian Norman Franks draws on official records and private recollections of air and ground crews involved to tell the story of the Royal Air Force's gallant role in the battle of Imphal and Kohima in India.
