The Papua New Guinea Bishops' Walk, 2nd-16th September 2007; Gona Beach to Ela Beach by the Kokoda Trail, in memory of Bishop David Hand's 1972 walk and launching the David Hand Memorial Trust Fund.
 
In 1972, thirty years after bitter fighting between the Australian and Japanese armies in the early days of WWII, Bishop David Hand walked the Kokoda Trail to raise funds for the Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea. He was joined by the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney and the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Port Moresby in a gesture of ecumenical solidarity, honouring church workers who had been martyred in 1942.
