Michael Elliott-Bateman began his career as an officer in the British Indian Army, and ultimately retired as a Major in the Royal Artillery. After his retirement from military service, he became Head of Military Studies at Manchester University. Professor Elliott-Bateman wrote one book and was editor of two more during the late 1960s & early 1970s. He passed away suddenly in late 2005 at the age of 77.
