Richard Broad of the Seaforth Highlanders who in June 1940, found himself in occupied France in charge of seven ruddy-faced Scotsmen not one of whom could speak a word of French, indeed even their 'English' was inconmprehensible to such Frenchmen as spoke the language! However, as this unusual book proves beyond question Richard Broad was not a man to be deterred by such handicaps.
