With The Kurram Field Force 1878-79 (1881) By Major J. A. S. Colquhoun, R. A.

An excellent account of the formation and operations of General Roberts's expeditionary force. Captain Colquhoun, arrived only in time for the action on Peiwar Kotal, but compiled a detailed account of the preparation of the force and its advance from the diary of Major Collett, the assistant quartermaster-general. Colquhoun, a Royal Academician, illustrated the book himself with five lithographed landscape scenes. A series of appendices give detailed information on the composition and ordnance of the force, and there is a useful summary of the work done by Punjab Chief's Contingent keeping lines of communication open written by Major W.C. Anderson, later of the 3rd Punjab Cavalry regiment. Bruce 4497.
